Over winter break, I realized I had an OBSESSION with 70s-80s graphics and I so desperately wanted to utilize this direction on a project. I feel like I don't often find myself overwhelmingly inspired on projects, but I was ready to go with this one!
Got to devise type systems. I know this is messy, but it worked to narrow down my options and see what I was happy with ahead of time before getting into the design work.
Early menu sketches. I quickly learned I wanted a horizontal menu as it would mimic menus from the 70s-80s.
Here's where I started getting into the project! This is a type dominant project, but I got away with a little mascot that I think complements the menu without taking away from the content. It was so much fun to write the content too!!
Some early designs of Cool Cat! Sorry about the pixelation, I moved past that phase long ago in the design process. This was my 70s-80s cartoon touch. This is what I was looking forward to the most honestly. I promise I'm not an illustration major.
This was the final product! Very happy with how it turned out. I printed this on some cool textured paper too, it really felt like it was from the 70s era!
